Anyone else diagnosed with M. Fortuitum?
My first culture results came back from December bronchoscopy. M. Fortuitum is growing. It is one of the so-called "fast growing" NTMs. Anyone else diagnosed with this one? Were you treated for it? I'm searching my references and don't find much specifically on treatment, except it is mentioned in this video from Dr. Huitt at National Jewish Health. https://youtu.be/Dw8hVJp1sJU

Merry,
Hello! I vaguely recall another patient with this; I don’t recall major treatment for this one . I will look further.

Hello! Here is more information on fortuitum. It reviews the 2007 ATS guideline treatment. I am so sorry that you have to deal with this now.
Are you symptomatic? As you know, oftentgey will wait, observe before starting treatment. Hang in there .

Merry, I now recall where I heard of a case of fortuitim a few years ago- it was tracked to a nail salon. Just posting this an educational information for othershttps://wwwnc.cdc.gov/eid/article/11/4/04-0936_article
Merry,
Hello! I am so sorry to hear that you are symptomatic at this time. I know how frustrating, nerve racking this time period can be.
Just when u feel that u r in the clear, a new issue or bug pops in. I was recently positive for MAC again but they are observing since I am not very symptomatic .
One day at a time until they work the treatment options out with you .
In the interim, must do whatever it takes to remain calm and collective.
Hello Merry. I'm sorry to hear that you are having the symptoms. It's hard when another bugs coming in again. I hope the best for you.
