Anyone treated with augmentin antibiotic?

Anyone found it to be helpful? I'm done with it but really didn't seem to help other than mucus is clear now. Shortly after taking my dose I seemed to get more throat and sinus inflammation.

My doc prescribed this along with pred for a sinus infection with companion wheezing in my upper airway and SOB.

Thanks, Kerie

That is penicillin? I have no faith in that. I take zpak 3 times a week.So far its helping to stop infections also helps inflammation of which is more my trouble.

yes, It's amoxicillin with clauvunate--something like that. I figured I'd give it a go since I've been on zpaks and omnicef every other month--it seems the docs don't leave me on zithromax long enough as I can tell it helps, but I'm done with it before I get any lasting relief.  I second that on the inflammation.

Hi Kerie. ... we are all so different and yet the same 😊.  re the  augmentin, my experience has been that augmentin has been the only prescription that has worked for me for several years... until this week.  I had no side effects that I know of from the augmentin.    I’ve been in and out of the Er and to my various doctors for the last 4 years with pneumonia and they always give me other prescriptions that don’t work, then put me on augmentin.  But I think perhaps I’ve now built up a resistance as I didn’t respond to it this week.  So this time, for the first time, I’m on levaquin which I’ve avoided in the past due to potential of more serious side effects.  It has worked - at least the pneumonia symptoms have eased up now and I can almost take a deep breath without pain again.
I’m also feeling like you...  that they don’t leave me on the prescriptions long enough to completely clear the infection... I’m wondering if the infection is just beat down and starts building back up as soon as the prescription ends. 🙁
Hang in there and keep us posted.  Sending you healing prayers.   Linda

No, afraid not Ksmiles123 . However this last time i went to the express care and they don't have the facilities for that--even though they could refer me to the main hosp to get that done you would think.

Ksuzanne,

You can always request that they send you to the main hospital to get the tests done. It is best to have data, all the pieces of the puzzle together in order to treat efficiently. Please keep us posted

Thanks Ksmiles123, I have asked before and it is like talking to a brick wall. I will probably have to get a referral with infectious disease doc. :/

You are most welcome! Yes, many of us can relate- however, you must keep advocating for yourself to get the optimal treatment which you deserve
