I have just started. Six doses so far. Somewhat of a sore throat, slight cough, and chest congestion. I have MAC and have been on 3 antibiotics for a year. Never had a negative, yet.

I had MAC for 9 1/2 yrs with no negative.  I was put on clofazimine at NJH.  That did the trick for me.

How long were you on the Clofazimine before you tested negative?  I've been on it for 2 years.

San,

Hello! Welcome to the site. There are previously answered questions re: arikayce to the left . Sore throat seems to be a common issue for many patients. Kati

Well here I am 3 months later, still puffing on my Arikayce. I have more ringing in my ears than usual (on and off),  scratchy throat, increased mucus and chest congestion (comes and goes), but no uncontrollable coughing.  I started the 3 oral antibiotics (2nd time around)  just before the Arikayce, so I don't know if the extreme coughing was stopped due to the anitbiotics or Arikayce.  The side effects are nothing I can't live with, and hopefully the medication will target the MAC infection directly.

Elise,
Hello! So glad the coughing has lessened; I am sure that you feel better emotionally since the cough has improved.

@Elisse  After completing 3 months of IV treatment, my cough was gone.  Now I am on Arikayce and my cough has returned with congestion.. I mentioned to my pulmo dr but it seemed not to matter to him  I am considering switching to the old amakacin due to costs.  $600 vs $20.
