Aspergillis
Have you heard if the term “ aspergillosis” before? It is a mold that can affect the respiratory systemhttps://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/aspergillosis/symptoms-causes/syc-20369619

I was diagnosed with aspergillus about 5 years ago. I was given a course of Voriconazole by my pulmonologist. It got rid of that, but the NTM bacteria remains.

My pulmo said I showed antibodies for it but that he wouldn't treat it as we pick it up in the air.

Chrissy,
So glad to read that you were able to get rid of the aspergillosis. Are you currently being treated for NTM?

We are glad that you are here. Happy for you that the aspergillus has been removed. NTM can be very "stubborn" to get rid of.

My labs from a bronchoscopy last year showed that I have Aspergillus fumigatus, but my doctors said they don't often treat this unless necessary because it is difficult to treat, & they believed it was not causing an infection, but was colonizing. I just had another bronchoscopy last month & now diagnosed with two forms of Aspergillus - fumigatus & flavus. I imagine the doctors will still just watch things for now, but have not met with them yet. Still being treated for MAC currently, & still awaiting lab results to see if it is cleared.
Hopefully, these two bugs are just colonizing and will not result in an infection. You have enough to deal with the MAC treatments. One day at a time- all we can do is to hope for the best.
