For those of you that have received your Covid vaccine, have you been able to enjoy more “peace-of-mind”? What activities are you planning to do now that you are vaccinated?

Now I can get behind a trip! I have missed booking vacations. We have been driving everywhere the last couple of years. I would LOVE to plan something fun with my family. I am hoping others will find more freedom to visit family members as well. I am sure it gives you peace-of-mind to know that both your sisters are vaccinated!

I am interested in attending weddings and other fun social events. Anyone else? I know it will be a while before the masks can come off but maybe people will start to have these events a little more regularly?

Yes, I am so looking forward to attending some social events in the near future. I am a social person, bu nature and it has been really challenging to be so restricted.
There is not light at the end of the tunnel; however, we still must proceed with caution
I received the vaccine couple weeks ago. I am still feeling not very comfortable being in a public place for a long time (such as grocery stores, etc), but I really happy that I got the vaccine.

I am so happy that you were able to get the vaccine. I don't blame you, after what the world has gone through, for not being comfortable yet. I think it is going to take time for all of us to feel confident to get back to our normal lives. Even with new guidelines, I am still cautious of wearing my mask in indoor public places.

It's nice not to wear that mask. With bronchiectasis it make it difficult to expectorate.

@Deppydo I definitely have missed so many people that I used to see regularly. My kids have been playing outdoor sports so that has helped with socialization a bit.
Since being vaccinated I have been able to see my newborn granddaughter (born at the end of March several states away), go on a vacation to the Florida Keys with my best friend and her daughter and do some other fun small group activities (charcuterie class, Designer House to support the local hospital, a few outside dinners). After being alone in my house for ~15 months, it is so nice to be able to interact with other vaccinated friends and family! Hope you all stay safe and are able to get out a little more.

Oh my goodness! A new grandbaby! That is so exciting! I agree with you. Having the vaccination definitely gives me more confidence that I can gather freely with my vaccinated friends and family.
I am pretty slow at resuming normal activities. Lots of doctor appointments and still no Sunday worship. Our church no longer requires masks. I feel like I need to wear mine when I am out in public. I have my pulmonary checkup in June. Hope to be advised then. I have had Bx&NTM for almost 7 years and just started using the SmartVest. I am finally noticing progress in lung clearance. Interested to hear your thoughts on my hesitancy for “normal life.”

I can understand not having the confidence just yet to go to church in-person. I am frequently streaming services as well. We have all been through so much with this pandemic. I agree with @Ksmiles123. Trust your gut and if you want to keep wearing your mask long after the pandemic... it's totally okay! Do what allows you to enjoy life the most. :)

Hello! I will not be indoors with people who I don’t know for awhile. We all must make our own personal decisions on what works best for us. Being outdoors, without a mask is a huge gift at this point in time.

We have to learn to live with Covid so I have started going to the movies which I love. I still went for walks during lockdown. That's about all I can do on the pension.

I agree Elaine. Covid seems to be sticking around. I would agree with trying to establish that "new normal" all the while staying safe by practicing infection prevention methods like wearing a mask indoors and using hand sanitizer etc. I haven't been to a movie in some time but I think it's because so much is readily available for streaming, but I'd like to go!

Once I was fully vaccinated, I rejoined the Y and started attending in-person exercise classes. However, in Hawaii, our governor has put indoor mask mandates in place since the beginning of the pandemic and has not lifted them. So, I felt very secure at the Y, especially as group exercise classes were limited to a total of 10 (9 participants and 1 instructor). Additionally, in mid-September, a Safe Access Oahu program was put into effect where proof of full vaccination or a recent negative COVID-19 test result is required before one can access certain facilities -- e.g., to dine in restaurants, gyms/fitness facilities, etc. So, it's very safe at the Y although they've increased the class size limits recently.
I recently have taken my booster shot too which further increased my sense of security. But, I also started researching after I read a Washington Post article about finding good protective face masks. Through that, I learned about and started watching the Mask Nerd's YouTube videos -- Aaron Collins is a mechanical engineer who has been testing face masks since shortly after the pandemic started and one should really watch his videos and take a look at the spreadsheet he put together of all the different face masks he has tested and buying information. I found and bought good protective, well-fitting face masks for my 4 year old granddaughter and my 6 year old grandsons in addition to masks for my brother (who has severe lung problems) and his wife. I also bought masks for myself and my daughter (who has to go to work in her office two days a week with other employees who are not vaccinated). I have given masks to neighbors as well as my exercise instructor to try. The more people who wear good, protective face masks, the better. I live where vaccination rates are high but with my bronchiectasis and m. abscessus, I can't afford to come down with a breakthrough infection. Even if the mask mandate is ever lifted, I will continue to wear them, especially as the ones I now have are comfortable and fit me very well.

Your friends, family are fortunate to receive gifts 🎁 of masks from you.
I will also continue to wear a mask in doctors offices, hospitals, etc. for awhile after the mask recommendations are lifted. We must take good care of ourselves

Agree Katie. Even though I am vaccinated... I still stop to put on my mask before going in to public places like grocery stores, restaurants, and the like. Will definitely continue to wear them in doctors offices indefinitely! I think we probably should have been doing that all along!
Just make sure where your KN95s are coming from -- same for the 3M masks. On one of his videos, Aaron showed three 3M masks - one was legitimate and two were counterfeit -- the printing on the front looked exactly alike and Aaron said the only way to make sure one is getting a legit mask is to make sure you are getting them from a reputable company. He's even detected counterfeit masks which were bought by a hospital!
I found that the KF94s (these Korean masks must meet the South Korean Ministry of Health certification and standards to be sold as a KF94) fit me very well and are very comfortable. My exercise instructor told me the other day that she can talk and breathe so well in the KF94 and it's made a difference in how she teaches her classes.

Thank you for the tips. It is important to wear the right, protective mask if you are going to wear a mask at all. Otherwise, it is just a cloth, cover , fashion statement without the full protection. This is especially important if you are in a doctors office or health care facility
Actually, I'm not as concerned about going to medical appointments because all the staff here are wearing N95 or surgical masks and I'm reasonably sure that they are all fully vaccinated (all the large healthcare facilities have put in place a vaccine mandate). I know that is not the case in certain states -- at one forum, a resident in SW Florida posted about calling 20 dental practices trying to find one who followed (and insisted his staff follow) all COVID protocols and found 4 who did! So, depending on where you live, full vaccination may not be enough to keep one safe. Everyone needs to assess their own risk in their particular environment and act accordingly.
Right now, I go grocery shopping at Costco during their senior shopping hour or to exercise classes. Once a month, I have my hair cut at a salon where my stylist wears a good mask. Every six months, I wait for my car servicing in the customer lounge

Hello! I wholeheartedly agree that we must assess our risk in particular environments and act accordingly.
I am not surprised about the dental practices. I asked the hygienist at my dental ofif she was fully vaccinated- she was not. I then requested to have a different hygienist-a fully vaccinated hygienist took over.
Most people do not understand what it is like to live with a chronic condition. I think that most of us will take every precaution possible to avoid getting sick with Covid. Others may feel that we are being overly concerned, cautious at this point in time. However, they have never walked in our shoes. We must do what is right for us.

I agree! Plexi Glass isn’t bullet proof- it may protect against sneezing, coughing directly coming at you face to face but the virus is airborne and may be circulating anyway.
I don’t need to go to a salon to get my nails done. I would not take the risk being in close proximity for more than a brief period of time if I do not have to. Yes, she should have inquired whether or not the manicurist was vaccinated. Sadly, not everyone is going to tell you the truth. I don’t mean to sound paranoid but some protect their businesses over the safety of immune compromised patients.
Hopefully, we will all feel safer by the spring with new treatments on board and the winter flu/ twinendmic behind us. We can all support one another in the interim.

Great question. I know some people had significant reactions to the vaccine, but for me, it was just like getting any other shot in the arm. I was a little sore and a little tired, but other than that, I was ok. I have felt better about being in public being vaccinated and "boosted". I keep seeing people around me getting Covid, but so far I have been able to avoid it. As I mentioned in other posts, I am taking vitamin C, D3, and zinc supplements.
