Did your bronchiectasis go away on CT?

I got my first ct with contrast last may/june and it showed emphysema, mild, diffuse, bronciecstasis and lung scarring upper lobe, nodule and infiltrates. My pulmonologist remarked my spirometry in may did not look that bad considering my current year history of exacerbations. (1st appointment) Moderate, fev1 71% post, mild air trapping, normal lung volumes.

My last ct in dec, was without contrast. in the comments, infiltrates gone, nodule stable, emphysematous changes, scarring. Absent was the remark on bronchiectasis. I've asked the docs about how my treatment plan addresses the broncheictasis and they've said "There's no bronchiectasis, it's not on this report." I guess it's good if I don't have it. But really, are they basically saying the original radiologist doesn't know what they are talking about?

Ksuzanne,

Nothing surprises me anymore...

It could be that your Bronchiectasis is just very mild and he just didn’t mention it. It is all good news- if it disappeared or it is mild. Now, be mindful of all preventive measures going forward will keep your lungs in a stable condition. Infection control measures can make a huge difference re: reinfections. Cumulative reinfections w gram negative bugs or NTM contribute to worsening of Bronchiectasis

Yes, Katie, it was described as "mild, diffuse" so it's a good thing it's early enough in the game to limit my exposure to these nasty bugs. The airway clearance has been the most important for me in how I feel and I learned all that here. Thank goodness for your voice of experience and the wealth of information here on b360 as I am so much better informed.
Thanks loads, Kerie

That was without contrast would that make any difference in seeing the Bronchiectasis?

I think so @Kandy but I haven't been able to get a good explanation from my regular doctors. According to the radiology site I posted, you need HRCT to see it if it is mild, and my second was no contrast and low dose CT which is probably why it was not described.
