My bronchiectasis and MAC was diagnosed in Oct 2015. for 20 years prior, and ever since, I have had a strenuous, every day and night cough that I take numerous medicines and inhalers to try to control. Does anyone else have this much trouble with constant coughing?

Daily use of nebulizer with salt helps my cough. Also drinking a frozen smoothie throughout the day to coat my throat.

Katherine,

I know how upsetting a constant cough can be...

Do you take mucinex?

Do u sleep with head of bed elevated? Have you been tested recently for reflux and sinus issues?

How is the temp of your home? Dry heat can aggravate a cough.

I go in spurts with coughing. Maybe just hacking cough once in a while then boom I start coughing and goes on and on till I can clear it. I do use hypertonic saline 7% as I think I said before is the best thing for me. I do take Nac been for years but pulmo said to increase it. NAC is good for a lot of things if you will read this info.

Hi,

I am constantly coughing and bringing up mucous.

It is so isolating. I do have cough med with codeine. Sometimes it helps if I have to go to the theatre or am with a group.

Nothing else ever works.

Paula,

Hello! So sorry to hear if your current situation. When did u see your doctor last? Some are against codeine since they want patients to get the mucous out and not suppress it.

Yes, it is very isolating when you are unable to go out due to a nonstop cough.

Hopefully, your doc can assist you to feel better. Please keep us posted
