Does anyone have suggestions for frequent coughing? Does anyone w/ Bronchiectasis not have a cough?
If anyone has any tips or recommendations, I would love to hear them!

Hello Cbp! I would like to share you my information about some managements of bronchiectasis. As we know that when we have bronchiectasis, there are accumulation of mucus in our lungs. So we should release our mucus. The things that we can do to help are:
1. Nebulizing saline/ hypertonic saline to thin the mucus. (Doctor perscription).
2. Breathing technique (belly breathing, huffing, active cycle breathing technique).
3. Chest percussion.
4. Flutter device, acapella, etc.
5. Exercise and hydration and well balance diet.
It's okay to cough and it's good to cough because we can cut down the amount of mucus inside our lungs :)
Some people couch very little amount of mucus. This can happen probably because the bronchiectasis happens in small area.
I have diffuse bronchiectasis in right and left lungs and feel so much better after coughing and release mucus. I wish I have some of the therapies for the bronchiectasis. I hope that you have the therapies available. Have a nice day :)

Made is spot on. I would add that there are many airway clearance devices approved for use with Bronchiectasis, including automatic percussion devices. This means that they are often covered by insurance. Not all devices work for each person, so it is worth trying a few different ones in consultation with your doctor to find a device/method or two that work for you.
Good luck.
Hello! Do you use mucinex to assist you in loosening mucous on the days you feel more congested? Please check w your MD if ok w your other mess. Can you identify any possible irritants which may be increasing your cough on particular days? We all cough... however, there are remedies as previously written . Some remedies work better for some, not for all. I wish you a clearer day.:).
I have been coughing for over 20 years with my bronchiectasis and now MAC. Doc's tried me on everything they could think of but nothing worked. I was finally put on tussionex suspension to treat my cough. Now a lot of doc's don't like to give it out because it is in a hydrocodone liquid base. But I tell you it was the only thing that worked and allowed me to work. At first I could only take it at night because it knocked me out(at least I could sleep) . After all these years I can take it in the morning without any problem and it really helps my cough. Good luck.
