GENETIC LINK TO BRONCHIECTASIS

In: General Discussion

Recently we were told by our daughter's geneticist, that she was almost positive she had Opitz G/BBB disease. She said Bronchiectasis, as well as laryngeal cleft and autism are symptoms of the rare genetic disease. We are currently awaiting her test results. Has anyone else heard of this disease or been diagnosed with Opitz G/BBB disease and Bronchiectasis?

ghr.nlm.nih.gov/condition/opitz-g-bbb-syndrome

It is a rare genetic disorder that cause abnormalities along the midline of the body. The link above can explain it much better.

Hello! As challenging as this is, I am glad that she is getting the right diagnosis now and can get a care plan in action. You are in my prayers. One day at a time

This expensive paper may be too hard to understand. Basically Primary Ciliary Dyskinesia (PCD) has been taken as the inheritable counterpart to bronchiectasis.

If we had perfect info, we might find that all diseases have a genetic link, albeit in a very involved manner. I am not a physician.

I was a pediatric nurse and have never encountered this or even seen it in the usual genetic references.
