Halotherapy (Salt Room Therapy)
Hello! I was wondering if anybody had ever tried Halotherapy (Dry Salt Therapy) for their Bronchiectasis? My Infectious Disease doctor suggested it as something to try.

Hi! I had heard about salt room therapy before. I never tried it. Well the salt room therapy is probably about using salt as an agent to make our mucus thinner. And I use NaCl 3% in a nebulizer (which is kind of a salt too).

@madepramana
This is the first time I had heard of going into a room of salt. :)
I also do the NaCl 7% (it leaves salt deposits on my table LOL)
Great thought if it will make the mucus thinner. :)
Thank you!

Where would you go for a salt cave?
Thanks!

Yes Gumby I use 7% hypertonic saline too. Always say why is my furniture so dusty but I bet its from the saline. Also alternate with mucomyst for mucus and that stuff stinks everything up. Like rotten eggs.

Hello! The article below reports that there is not enough research on salt rooms to prove whether or not these rooms are effective or not. https://www.healthyway.com/content/the-beauty-treatments-that-are-a-total-scam/

I found an article about halotherapy and copd. The article mentioned that there were limited studies about halotherapy and copd.

This was a great article! Thank you!
Sounds like it can't hurt but not enough research to prove the benefits!

Hi, My G..P said no to salt therapy, I will ask my lung specialist when I see him, next week I am curious.
Gumby,
Sorry about that. The article was very long and was followed by another long article. The post did not include the information on salt therapy. Below is a different link:https://community.aafa.org/blog/aafa-explains-is-therapy-safe-and-effective-for-asthma
Hi, I also wondered about salt rooms but my Dr said don't bother. I am still not sure if he is right

I own a Salt room in Adelaide Australia called Breathe Stretch Float, there is a video on our Facebook page with Barb. 12 months ago Barb was given a month to live due to Chronic Bronchiectasis. Barb took a chance on salt therapy and it's helped her immensely. She has to have her lungs drained on a monthly basis, Her fluid levels have reduced down to 60%, which is a fantastic result. Over winter she has not contracted any respiratory illness (Each year about this time she would be hospitalised for 5 or 6 weeks at a time). Barb also notices that she barely suffers any hayfever symptoms now and if she does they are mild.
Barb visits the room 3 times a week and the difference it has made to her quality of life has been amazing. Due to lockdown when we were closed she noticed a significant difference in how she felt. Please watch the video and judge for yourself. This is quantifiable proof of the effectiveness of salt therapy. If you do try it, ensure the provider uses a halogenerator and only pharmaceutical grade salt in it, no other salt is pure enough. Expect to cough a bit more for a few days after treatment, this is a decongestant effect and not the salt causing a negative effect.
