Has anyone ever dealt with having a child diagnosed with Bronchiectasis at 14 months old?
My 16 month old daughter was recently diagnosed with bronchiectasis, and I am kind of at a loss as to what this disease looks like? And if anyone else has a child, or was themselves, diagnosed at such a young age. Thank you in advance for any and all comments!

Hi She_looks_normal, I'm sorry to hear about your daughter's diagnosis. We don't typically hear about a bronchiectasis diagnosis at such a young age, but I certainly hope you will find some value on this website. If you don't mind me asking, was she diagnosed with any other pulmonary issues (i.e. cystic fibrosis)? Cystic fibrosis is common in children and young adults, and is known to cause bronchiectasis. Hang in there!

Hello. Nice to meet you. I'm 21 years old bronchiectasis patient diagnosed three years ago. I'm sorry to know about your child condition.
In the past I found online some people who are diagnosed at young age. I found it on another bronchiectasis online forum that I joined. There are some member who was diagnosed at young age. The name of the forum is bronchiectasis.info
If I'm not mistaken I have a friend in there. Her name is Laurel. She was diagnosed at young age. At that time no CT scan was available (year 1980 or so, I'm sorry if this not correct) so she didn't get early bronchiectasis diagnosis.
And then I also found a facebook page created by a mom who has a child with bronchiectasis.
Yes, if possible it's good to know the cause of the bronchiectasis in order to have better treatment plan. As we know there are many causes on how someone can get bronchiectasis. So it's great when the doctor can rule out the cause.
The online forum that I mentioned before is good. You can find many people with bronchiectasis there. Please let us know about your children condition and yourself too. Have a nice day.
I am so sorry that you are going through this. I am sure your concern for your daughter weighs the heaviest. I am not sure what part of the country you live in-this website is about Colorado but there is some good information: http://rmpedspulm.com/education/bronchiectasis/
Hang in there. Arm yourself with knowledge and take it one day at a time.
I found an article from Pediatric Clinics that may be helpful. It speaks to childhood Bronchiectasis and treatments. Because it is rare there doesn't seem to be a lot of different info, but this may help in formulating questions for your daughters doctors. I hope this helps.
