Have you had a lung wedge resection?
Q. Have you had a lung wedge resection?
A: Yes
Q. Where did you have the surgery done?
A: Saints Mary & Elizabeth Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky.
Part of the middle right lobe was removed in April 1975.
I think a sponge was left in there because I've been thirsty ever since.

Laff4ever,
Thank you for your response and your great sense of humor.
Just curious to see where people are having lung surgery done . It is best to have this surgery done at a hospital where they have performed many of these procedures.
Hi Ksmiles, i'm scheduled to have a lobectomy and wedge resection @University of Colorado in conjunction w/NJH late summer. i have asked the doctors if there are any patients that have gone thru this surgery to reduce their NTM, that act as ambassadors to other patients whom i could speak with. To date, i have not been contacted nor given any names. The surgeon has done 1000 NTM lung resections, so i am hoping i will be able to speak with a patient about the surgical recovery, risks and benefits. i visited NJH as an outpatient and started on the antibiotics 2 months ago along w/the airway clearance, as well as changed my diet, and i feel so much BETTER! My friends ask me, "where is your cough?"
God bless,
Jammd
Jammd,
Hello! I am so glad that you are starting to feel better and your cough is lessening. Reach out to the doctors office again. Let me know if you hear back from the doctors office with contact information about a patient who has a similar case to yours. My case was very unusual and done for diagnostic purposes.I am available to speak if you do not hear back from them in a few days. You have time since the surgery is not until late summer. Have a pleasant day!:)

Hello Jammd,
I had a right upper lobectomy at University of Colorado Hospital with Dr John Mitchell in 2012. It was the VATS procedure. He has since changed to using the DaVinci robotic process. I heard him talk recently, and he showed video of the process.
I was in the hospital for a total of 5 days. Some patients are discharged after three days.
My recovery was quick and easy. I was mowing my own lawn three weeks after surgery.
My coughing was reduced significantly with surgery.
If you would like more information, you can call me directly at the BNTM information line 833-411-5864
