How do you feel about states re-opening?
Are you ready to go out and about? Are you feeling anxiety about the masses? I live in Alexandria, VA and any store I go into has patrons wearing masks. I see images on the news where people are not social distancing and not wearing masks. How do you feel about re-entry?

My doctors have told me to stay home regardless of anything opening. I am basically isolated away from everybody at home as well. The doctors have said the risk is to great of having a poor outcome with my lungs. I would imagine that would apply to anybody with Bronchiectasis.
So, to re-open is good for those who can safely distance, work and function all while avoiding overwhelming our healthcare system. For me personally it will not change what we will do.
Interesting note: The Health Director of our County has helped people identify if they are at higher risk..Here is what she said; "If you take a pill daily for a disease, you are at higher risk."
They have also reported severe disease with Covid for those with COPD and Asthma.
Have a great Memorial Day weekend.
I have 4 lung diseases and 28% lung function been on o2 for 23 yrs now I am at high risk. Do go once in awhile to store mask gloves on but mostly stay home. I am in a bad flare the pollen is high had to have windows open for air. My relative just come put my window air conditioners, in I love it!! Nice cool fresh air. I hope.
Gumby,
Hello! So great to have you back in the site. Yes, I agree that we must stay super cautious despite re opening. Most of us will not feel safe until a vaccination is on board. We must just take one day at a time.

Kandy,
Hello! Stay cool and safe.:
I do exercises to bring mucas up and lately none or little is coming up I wondered if this means I have none to bring up as I have the mildest form of Bronchiectasis or I'm no longer doing exercisers correctly.
I have no idea when to re-enter the world outside my home. I have the mildest form of Bronchiectasis, some days now and again are great and I can walk almost as far as I used to before this disease & do some housework other times I'm breathless all day and if I go walking I have to stop constantly to get my breath back. On those days my husband has to do everything around the house & we eat Microwave meals.

Elaine,
Hello! What type of exercises are you doing? What type of airway clearance device do you use? Some patients use .3NS to assist in bringing up sputum.
Do you think that the ups and downs of your condition are impacted by weather changes?

I didn't know if I should start going out now there are no reported cases in NSW, Australia. I have been supermarket shopping and at the cash registers there are now shields around the operators , plenty of hand sanitizer available to use. The local chemist only allow a certain number in the shop at a time and you have to use the sanitizer before you enter. My Dr. is still doing phone consultations unless you have to actually see him.
I have had a 99% turn around in my condition. It only got bad during the extremely bad bush fires over summer, (now winter)fires long gone and I'm now back to normal. I can now walk a couple of klms instead of struggling to walk to my letterbox
Gumby,
Hello! Yes, I hope that summer does give you a well deserved break! Katie
Elaine,
Great to hear the good news!!! We all need good news.
Just one tip w the sanitizers in the stores
Bring a small packet of tissues w you to use to push the sanitizer pump....
Many people are using that pump throughout the day. I realize that you sanitize your hands afterwards.... but, I am erring on the side of being overly cautious these days. We don’t know the exact type of sanitizer they are using, etc. Keep well!:
