How long to get results on an aspergillus culture?

I'm 2 weeks out from a bronchoscopy and I know I have more weeks to wait until the NTM culture is done/read, but I think aspergillus doesn't take that long. I was thinking the last time I had it done it was about 2-3 weeks. Does anybody know? Thanks!

Hi Merry! I read from an article that it takes 10 days for the incubation and another 2-3 days for another procedure. I think different labs can have different methods or protocol. How was the bronchoscopy? Wish you the best. Here is the link of the article: https://academic.oup.com/mmy/article/49/6/581/9718...

My samples from the bronchoscopy was a week. They were concerned about one but was normal flora after growing a week. Nothing showed up in the lungs so lucky. Just bad lungs.

Merry,

Yes, I recall reading that it only takes a few weeks as well. Wishing you the best! This waiting period can be very challenging; please keep us posted

Merry,

I haven't had a bronchoscopy in about 7 years, and took awhile to get results as I recall, but sputum cultures I've had recently to check on NTM take between and 6 and 7 weeks to to grow and get results. Good luck with your results.
