Good Morning. I am looking for any personal information members are willing to share. My mother just started using Arikayce and has been coughing like crazy and has extreme fatigue. If anyone is using this med, has a family member using it or is a caregiver for someone that is, can you please tell me what has been successful to help ease the cough or fatigue? Thank you in advance. I hope everyone is well today!

Hello! Welcome to the site. Fatigue is a symptom that most patients experience with a NTM infection. Does she use Albuterol nebulizer as well before the arikayse? Has she contacted her doctor if the coughing has greatly increased?

Thank you. The cough has eased up but the fatigue is what is her biggest challenge right now. She’s had eight days of Arikayce and is on the triple antibiotic cocktail for 5.5 years which she has tolerated remarkably well.

You are most welcome! 5 years is a long time to be treated w 3 antibiotics. Has your mom been evaluated at a NTM research hospital?

She has been off of the antibiotics twice but went through the full course of them and is in the middle of her third. She gets monthly bloodwork to check kidney/liver function. She is treated by an infectious disease Dr and the chief of pulmonology at a different hospital.
