I sent samples of the bio film in my showerhead to the university study conducted a couple of years ago. Did anyone here participate? Did you get your results? I've never heard back and now cannot even remember who did the study to follow up. Any information would be appreciaited. I'd love to know what bacteria they found. They said they would tell us. Thanks!

Mimi,
Hello! Are you speaking about the VaTech Study?
I did participate and did receive the results three years ago. My shower head and refrigerator water samples did match my specimen sample. Did you keep the records and cot act info when you signed up for the study?
I do not know how long they are required to keep the records.

How interesting. I would love to send samples like that for testing.
Ksmiles, since getting those results do you go out of your way to clean the shower head? (My pulmo said to just throw it away and get a new one!!!)

Merry,
Hello! This is awkward writing on line.... I chose not to take showers and only take baths. I haven't taken a shower in years. I wish this was a joke , lol
There are mixed views on whether or not we need to be overly cautious since NTM is ubiquitous ; however, I decided not to take the risk.
Patients are advised to clean their shower heads regularly w bleach . I will forward the specific instructions later.:) Katie

Kandy,
I would suggest that you wear a mask and gloves while cleaning the shower head. Also, ideally, this needs to be done regularly .
All the best
Thank you Ksmiles123!!
Kandy,
You are welcome!:))
