If my bronchiectasis is under control, why do I need a Bronchoscopy?
I am 74. What would a bronschoscopy gain for me?

Hello Wolf,
Welcome to the site.
As John mentioned, the scope gives you a clearer picture of what us going on inside your lungs. However, if you are not symptomatic with symptoms under control and you drop off sputum cultures to the lab as directed by your Pulmonogist- there is no need to rush to get scoped.
Hello welcome to the group.
sputum samples are just as good for diagnosing, possibly better because any time you have an invasive procedure, there is a chance of introducing infection through the procedure.
