Preventing colds and infections
I'm just getting over a cold that had me home for a few days. (I think) I'm really observant about washing my hands, etc. but I seem to get a couple colds a year. What steps do you take to prevent colds and other resp infections?

Hi Kristen, how are you? I hope you are feeling better. Exercise and good foods can make our body stronger and hopefully can prevent colds ;)
Hi Kristen, as odd as it may sound, I'm big on getting enough rest and sleep. I believe rest/sleep plays an important part in preventing a cold (for me at least). I always hear people talk about how they only get 4-5 hours of sleep per night and I have no idea how they function, nonetheless function without getting sick! Also, whenever I feel like I'm getting sick, I take vitamin C. It seems to help. Interested in hearing other members' input as well.
For avoiding the bugs, I get a little goofy. When I'm out I do not touch doorknobs, elevator buttons, etc. with my bare hands, unless it can't be helped. (Yes, I'm THAT kooky woman using a tissue or a coat sleeve when opening a door! LOL)
The first thing I do when I get home is immediately wash my hands. I also carry hand sanitizer in the car, but I don't think you can beat good old fashioned hand washing.
I agree with you, Delia, that a slug of Vitamin C can't hurt, and might help. Also staying well hydrated.
