I am new to this site. Does anyone have information on the mold Rasamsonia Argillacea? I have just had that mold show up on a sputum sample and haven't been able to find much information on it. I understand that it's a really difficult, year long treatment on 2 antibiotics without a great success rate. Thanks for any help on this

Daj,

Hello! Did you see the article below from NIH.? Sadly, a lot of these darn bugs take quite some time to get rid of.https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3261388/

Thank you Ksmiles123. I'll check it out. My Infectious Disease doc hasn't prescribed anything yet, but I started drinking Pau d Arco tea. It is a natural anti-fungal. I buy the Pau d Arco bark, which comes from a tree, I think in South America, that fungus will not grow on. It is reported to have anti-fungal, antibiotic and anti-cancer properties. I used it 35 years ago to avoid having a hysterectomy. I boiled the bark and drank the tea for a year to get rid of large cysts. At the time there was a lot of information on Pau d Arco on the internet regarding its anti-tumor properties. As I understand it, the pharmaceutical companies tried to extract something from it that they could patent, but it didn't work when it was broken down. I'm a believer in herbal remedies and have tried a lot of them over the years. Some work, some don't, but I've found herbs useful in dealing with bronchiectasis.

Fabulous. Yes, a friend drinks Pau di Arco tea as well. Hopefully, some natural supplements, teas will help you. Do you have an integrative medical doctor? Kati

Ksmiles123. Thank you for your response. I tried an integrative medical doctor and found that after studying herbs on my own for over 35 years, I actually knew more than he did. Then I tried an herbalist who used muscle therapy and spent a year and lots of money with no results. Then tried a biochemist who checked the blood and recommended herbs. Again lots of money and no results. After that really spent time researching herbs for the lungs and started getting better. More recently went for IV infusions of hydrogen peroxide and high nutrients. The hydrogen peroxide became too painful but I continued the nutrients for 10 months. They helped. Took Digestacure several years ago and felt good on it so have recently started with it again. After 6 weeks started seeing improvement in symptoms. Digestacure is immune modulators that have been extracted from the aloe plant and are used to help the immune system. Now, added Pau d Arco. Am feeling pretty good, so time will tell how effective they are.

Fabulous! Yes, sadly it is disappointing when we know more than the practitioners who we set up appointments with. I had two dietitians inform me that I knew more than they knew ... We must continue to learn from credible sources and advocate for ourselves.

Ksmiles123, A year ago I posted that I was boiling Pau d Arco bark and drinking the tea to get rid of a fungal infection in my lungs. My ID doc wanted to treat with a very aggressive multi-antibiotic regimen, but I wanted to first try herbs. You asked me to let you know what the results were, and I said it would take at least a year to find out if Pau d Arco was effective but that I would let you know when I had the results.Shortly after that a sputum sample found 3 additional fungus, so I then had four (Rasamsonia, Penicillium, Aspergillus and Pseudomonas). After drinking Pau d Arco every day for a year, a sputum sample showed only Rasamsonia. My ID doc did a Cat Scan and said that there were no signs of an active fungal infection, so I was probably only colonized with Rasamsonia and it was not causing a problem, so she elected not to treat.I continued drinking a reduced amount of Pau d Arco daily and got another benefit from it.A year ago one of the Cat Scans showed a mass on my kidney. An ultrasound confirmed and listed the size of the cyst. After a year of drinking a reduced amount of Pau d Arco, I was given another ultrasound on the kidney and it showed the cyst was reduced by 30-40%. I will continue to drink Pau d Arco daily because its properties are antibacterial, antifungal, anti-inflammatory and it’s reported to be effective against tumors or cancer.30 years ago at a much higher dose it got rid of a large cyst on my ovary and avoided a hysterectomy, so I’m hoping it will completely get rid of the current kidney cyst.I guess herbs don’t work for everyone, and I suspect it is because they give up too soon.It takes patience to find herbs that work for you, but they are wonderful when they work.

Daj,

Hello! Welcome back!

Thank you for your update. It is great that the PaudeArco worked for you! Yes, it is true what works for one may not work for another.

Alternative therapies do take time. It is worth an attempt for some patients as long as a patient is being monitored throughout any alternative therapy to make sure their symptoms / cat scan are not getting worse in the interim. Wishing you the very best! Please continue to keep us posted. Have a good day!
