Steroid therapy for exacerbation of NTM
My physician orders high doses of Prednisone when I have an exacerbation Is this recommended?

Hello Barb,
Short term prednisone is ok for some acute exacerbations. However, prednisone lowers your immune response and should be used sparingly with NTM patients. The links below describes the role of prednisone in greater detail.

I would recommend a pulmonologist who specializes in bronchiectasis and pulmonary NTM.
