Hi I was recently diagnosed with MAI And live in a rural area...Two Pulmonologist’s that I’ve traveled to have said not to seek treatment because of side effects...Now a third says that I should get treatment....Where are the top places to go for treatmen?… I’m willing to travel. National Jewish hospital? Stanford? NYU? UCSF? And which doctors?

Please advise

Hello! I hope that the link below helps you.https://www.aboutntm.com/testing-for-NTM/?utm_medium=cpc&utm_source=bing&utm_campaign=2017_ub_dtc_ntmunbrandedpatient_doctor%20-%20ntm&utm_term=ntm%20doctor&utm_content=ntm%20-%20doctor_broad&gclid=COipnIaUmOYCFa0FiAkdh_MN2w&gclsrc=ds
Hi Suze, the link below leads to NTMir's Physician Referral List. The docs on this list have indicated that they are familiar with NTM lung disease and diagnostic and treatment statement/guidelines. It may be beneficial for you to start by searching the ones known in your area so that you don't need to travel too far. Hope this helps!

Thanks Delia and Ksmiles....This helps but still trying to narrow it down… If you have any recommendations of particular doctors at either National Jewish, New York City Stanford....please Let me know....Thanks again
Hello! Dr Addrizzio or Dr Kamelhar at NYU are well experienced w NTM. The staff at NJC are all equipped to deal w NTM; they work as a team to figure out the more challenging cases
Thanks Ksmiles....any thoughts about NYU vs National Jewish Hospital versus Cleveland clinic? Which one is would you recommend as the top place to go for a comprehensive work up and treatment.
Thank you!
Suze,
Hello! Good morning! I can’t endorse one hospital over the other two. All three have good ratings for NTM. Many patients e d up choosing the hospital which is closer to their home since follow up visits will be required over the years. You can check out details on the hospitals on the US News and World Reports top hospitals. Most importantly, it is the particular doctor who cares for you at the hospital. Personal recommendations from others on the site may help you.
As Kandy recently posted- please double check the hospital a few days before you leave to make sure that they have received all of your medical records and that your appointment times remain the same as initially scheduled.
I realize this is a lot of work- been there...
