Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) occurs when stomach acid frequently flows back into the tube connecting your mouth and stomach (esophagus). This backwash (acid reflux) can irritate the lining of your esophagus. Many people experience acid reflux from time to time. Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) has been linked to many forms of pulmonary disease, including aspiration pneumonia, asthma, chronic cough and, more recently, idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF). Studies estimate that as many as 90% of patients with IPF may also have GERD. I have silent gerd.

Appreciate it! :)
