I used it for some years its strong and smells awful but it does the trick. I had the 2.0 I do believe. Some ppl it maybe to strong and really irritate the airways. Now I have hypertonic saline much better than this. There is a supplement that does the same thing called NAC found at a health food store.

Hello! I tried it years ago but didn’t stick with it. Brand name mucinex worked for me when in an acute state of illness. Otherwise, generic mucinex works well for the chronic issue.

Link below provides some badly information.https://www.webmd.com/drugs/2/drug-63406/mucomyst/details

Good luck! I hope that other members respond

I know this is old but I found this after I asked a new question about mucomyst. I'm prescribed the generic in bottles and have to syringe it along with albuterol in the nebulizer. I have not used it much at all as I didn't feel it helped to bring up the mucus any better. In fact, it seemed to do the opposite with me--I had a harder time coughing up mucus plugs and felt more congested. I have not given it a very fair trial though after only a few times using it.

Mucomyst is an old drug- I have never used it. Speak w your doc; I would not continue if you do not feel that it is effective . Have you used mucinex, over the counter? I only use the brand name mucinex, not the generic; I have noticed a difference between the two

Thanks everyone. Ksmiles123 Thanks for you suggestion I may try the brand as you suggested. Early on before I knew exactly what was going on I did take generic and it helped maybe too much, more of a dry cough rather than productive. I think that's what I experience on the nebulized Mucomyst. I'm doing the generic which is Acetylcysteine.

Mucinex does nothing for me The mucomyst was used many years ago and this year was prescribed it again. Take NAC supplements when remember to.

I used Mucomyst when I was younger but it really agarvated my Asthma so they stopped it. Hypotonic Saline aslo increased my wheezing in the past but they are thinking about trying it again. I use Brand Name Mucinex and it is helpful.
