still breathless but told OK
My Bronchiectasis has improved and my lung specialist has told me my lungs are good but I don't understand why I still get breathless when walking up an incline, or doing chores. (he doesn't have an answer) I accept that I am very mild so why does this happen, specialist seems to think it's because I don't do enough exercise. I walk as often as I can up to 2 klms usually with rests. Could the problem be that I'm 78 and slowing down.

There are a number of causes for dyspnea. (shortness of breath)
One of them, as your doctor suggested, is deconditioning. (being out of shape)
Another, as you suggested, is age.
Even healthy lunged people start to lose some lung function around age 35.
Whatever the cause is in your case, I'm electing you president of the.........
"I Hate Inclines Club". I'll be your vice-president.

Elaine,
Hello! It can be due to several factors as Laff4ever mentioned above. Keep on walking, attempting to increase the duration slowly.
I am also a member if the “ Hate Inclines Club”. We have left reserve in our lungs compared to people without lung issues. I stay w “ flatland walks”, I check out any area I plan on walking ahead of time to avoid major inclines.
We must be grateful that we can do as much as we can do and slowly add small chunks to our routine. Have a pleasant day!
Thankyou.
My husband is 2 years younger than me, he gardens, mows our lawns and 2 neighbour's lawns, does repairs for neighbours and family. I sure wish I had his energy.
Elaine,
I have said your exact words over and over again ….I wished that I could bottle someone else’s energy.
I even envied, a woman who was 40 years older than me who had much more energy than I did at the time.
We must continue to do everything in our power to feel as well as we possibly can, one day at a time.
I am glad that you are on this site.:
Thankyou
Elaine,
You are most welcome!
It is wise to believe that your energy may improve. My energy did improve over time after discontinuing the meds, being able to exercise, get out and about more.
There is no set pattern of outcomes for patients. I wish you the very best!
