I've been told I will stop meds next month. I haven't talked to ID doctor yet but am curious. Do you stop cold turkey or wean off of them?

I assume that you are on the big 3. Is your doctor discontinuing the meds earlier due to culture conversion or due to side effects Most patients do stop cold turkey or one at a time when doctors advise them to do so. Please keep us posted.

I will stop in 21 days......cold turkey and looking forward to it! :) Then just monitor but less frequently. Thank you to everyone that has responded to my questions and/or been supportive. Appreciate it. Tracy

PS.....yes, the big 3.....wasn't bad at all. I had no problems with it. I did start trying to boost my immunity before and during with Omega 3, Vitamin D, C & zinc and will continue to take those.

Tracy,

Hello! Yahoo! You are on a drug holiday!! So glad that you tolerated the drugs and can now take a break. Continue to educate yourself on all preventive measures in order to avoid the need for meds again. Enjoy your spring!!!😍

Hi Tracy,

Here is my three step process for stopping antibiotics:

1. Cold turkey! Just stop taking them when your doctor says it is ok.

2. Celebrate! Do something fun. You completed a major step in your treatment.

3. Schedule a sputum test for a few months out - just to make sure you are still clear of infection.

Your doctor may want you to continue doing airway clearance. Be sure to ask.

Congratulations!
