How does bronchiectasis affect the lungs?
I have had bronchiectasis and NTM for several years, and I would like to know the effects specifically of bronchiectasis on the lungs.

Thanks for your question Beth. Bronchiectasis is the widening of the small airways, which can result in decreased movement of mucus out of the lungs. Without normal movement, mucus is more likely to collect in the small airways, which allows for bacterial growth, infections, and airway damage.
